Winnetka Library North Entry

Winnetka, IL

The Lakota Group was retained by the Winnetka Public Library to conceptualize site and landscape enhancements for the northern entrance of the Library. The proposed design opens views of the entrance to reveal and highlight the building’s unique architectural features. Enhancements include a modest bluestone patio directly adjacent to the building, where students or visitors can lounge, collaborate, and mingle. The patio steps down and a series of bluestone steppers allowing others to meander through the lawn. Linear plantings of shrubs and perennials line the entry walk, mimicking the horizontal lines of the existing and new stone masonry walls. The middle masonry wall features a new illuminated library sign, which provides an attractive glow to match the stone wall underlighting.
