Oak Park Arts District Design Plan

Lakota prepared an urban design/streetscape plan for Oak Park’s Arts District located on Harrison Street. For this project, Lakota garnered stakeholder input and prepared a design framework to enhance the street’s role as a lively, funky destination for thriving artists, galleries, shops, and restaurants. The firm developed a series of concepts for lighting, district gateways, public art, street furniture, and street signs that will help unify Harrison Street as a special district. The project also involved preparing cost estimates and incorporating an implementation plan for use by the Village of Oak Park. The first phase included fabrication of distinct district gateways located at key intersections.
