Arts & Culture Plan
Niles, ILThis Arts and Culture Plan represents a set of policies and strategies in guiding the expansion and enhancement of Niles’ arts and culture in the years ahead, acknowledging that these assets contribute to the community’s economic competitiveness and quality of life. In 2016, the Village of Niles initiated an eight-month process to prepare this Arts and Culture Plan, which included an assessment of existing arts and culture assets and opportunities, and the engagement of local stakeholders and residents in determining short and long-term planning priorities and cultural arts initiatives. This Plan also advances the planning goals made within the Village’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan in that promoting “arts and culture through the support of facilities and programs that reflect the diversity of the community, enhance the Village’s reputation and create a unique experience for residents, businesses and visitors.” The Plan also recognizes that the community’s greatest assets are its “people,” “events,” and “history.”
