Illinois Medical District Wayfinding Plan & Signage Design

After successfully completing a master plan for the Illinois Medical District—a 560-acre area made up of medical research facilities, labs, universities, and more than 40 health care-related facilities—Lakota was engaged to design a unified signage system for the District. Lakota developed a comprehensive package that included identity, wayfinding, and gateway monuments. The contemporary color-coded system establishes order and hierarchy for the entire district and each of the District’s campuses, while orienting and directing people to parking, buildings, landmarks, and key destinations.
