Rock Island Heritage Resources Plan

Rock Island, Illinois

Lakota prepared a Heritage Resources Plan plan for the Rock Island to enhance its historic preservation program and address key issues related to survey and documentation, design guidelines, neighborhood revitalization, heritage tourism and economic development, and education and advocacy. The Plan also included an analysis of Rock Island’s historic preservation ordinance in order to update and strengthen provisions related to landmark/district designation processes, demolition delay, roles and responsibilities of the Preservation Commission, and design review procedures.

I had the pleasure of working with Nick Kalogeresis and Becky Hurley, the project consultants to prepare our Heritage Resources Plan, a city-wide historic preservation plan. The completed document is one that embodies Rock Island's passion for preservation and has been met with strong community support.
