Glenview Downtown Form-Based Development Code

As a member of Glenview’s planning team, Lakota prepared a Revitalization Plan for the improvement and development of the village’s traditional downtown and train station area. To provide more specific direction to developers, Lakota then created a form-based code that emphasizes the “public realm,” site/streetscape design, and building envelope/form according to land use categories and street types. It encourages high-quality mixed-use development along Glenview Road — the district’s main street — and creates a “street wall” of new buildings along Waukegan Road.

The Form-Based Code received awards from the Illinois Chapters of the American Planning Association and Congress for New Urbanism.
