Elmhurst City Centre Plaza

Lakota redesigned a centrally-located plaza in downtown Elmhurst that was vastly underused. The primary goal for the project included reworking and reorganizing pedestrian circulation through the plaza by consolidating space and reordering trees and planting beds, while also providing outdoor seating for the adjacent restaurants. Additionally, the redesigned plaza provides a common gathering space for the downtown shopping district and other area attractions. The main focal point is a centrally-located, tiered water feature that provides ambient sound and incorporates a whimsical, playful element.
