Elmhurst Downtown Planning Study, Wayfinding Plan & Signage Design

The Lakota Group prepared a comprehensive study of Downtown Elmhurst for the City of Elmhurst, Regional Transportation Authority, and Elmhurst City Centre, which included recommendations for wayfinding/signage, streetscape improvements, parking/traffic, and the establishment of a “Cultural Trail” that links Downtown, Wilder Park and Elmhurst College. The study identified four alternative library sites, 10 development sites, and numerous transit-oriented development opportunities totaling over 344,000 square feet of new building space. Lakota also prepared a Wayfinding Plan and Signage Design that addresses 50 “decision” locations throughout the City and Downtown for special directional and identity signs.
