The Lakota Group’s work to create a cohesive and community-supported vision for the Forest Preserve of Cook County was recognized yesterday by Doug T. Graham of the Daily Herald.
“Although designs for the gateways have not been completed, the goal is for them to convey a sense of welcome, interest, safety and beauty, according to the forest preserve district.” (D. Graham)
As part of this process, detailed site designs will be developed in order to identify the special cultural, natural, ecological, and recreational elements of Forest Preserve properties. Ultimately, the team will implement plans that celebrate each site’s unique sense of place, all with an eye towards increasing access to physical activities and the unique and wonderful resource that is the Forest Preserves of Cook County.
