Marion Street in historic downtown Oak Park Illinois was a deteriorated, pedestrian-only street that was in need of revitalization when the Village tapped the Lakota Group to redesign this well-known commercial street. Today Marion Street is open to two-way traffic and boasts a streetscape design with a rich variety of materials and flexible outdoor gathering spaces. This project energized downtown Oak Park, spurred economic development, and led the Village to turn to the Lakota Group again to redesign South Marion Street, called the Pleasant District.
